Don Mattrick is Leaving Microsoft

After a storm of (mostly negative) press surrounding Microsoft and the Xbox One, All Things D is reporting that Don Mattrick is leaving Microsoft and heading to Zynga.  Their sources are saying that head honcho of Microsoft’s Interactive Entertainment Business (a fancy way of saying XBox) is leaving the company for struggling indie game developer, Zynga. Why Microsoft’s Reversal Is Bad.

Disclaimer:  If you want a quick reason- read the final three paragraphs.  If you want theory/my arrival to this point- read on!

I’ve been a hardcore Xbox fan since Microsoft’s rookie console.  I loved the graphics.  I loved Halo.  I loved the controller.  I loved the multiplayer experience.  Until a couple years ago, I had never even owned a Sony console.  They didn’t have games I could justify spending another $400 for.  Even if they did, I hated the controller- that was my main reason for holding back.  It never fit well in my hands!  So I just passed on it.

Fuck the Xbox One.

Before watching the the Xbox One reveal I felt like a kid on Christmas Eve.  I knew I wasn’t going to get anything immediately but as a hardcore gamer I was dreaming of everything I wanted in Microsoft’s next console.  After all, it does mark the beginning of the next generation console war.
